6.4.6 IDE Befestigung Fit newer 2.5" IDE devices to your Falcon
Some newer drives does not match up with the original screw holes
on the hard drive bracket that came with my Falcon. It fits in the
bracket just fine, but the screw holes don't line up. I used some
velcro/wrap tape, and just went around the drive and the bracket one
time. Very solid and stable like that. The internal IDE drive cable
does match up perfectly-you don't have to flip the drive upside down
or anything. Just thought you should know that.
Drilling for Gold..
If a person was industrious enough, it would be a pretty simple matter to remove the hard drive bracket, mark it with the new drives screw holes as a guide, and drill new holes. The screws for the new drive do come with it.
Don't think that problem is specific to the Toshiba, Nemesis, or
C2. My original Falcon has two insulated spacers between the HD
bracket and the motherboard. Some of the tech people from Atari
recommended doing this on all the Falcons with internal drives. Also
you drop the risk of short circuits with other PCB tracks!
