Naming Conventions, Version 1.6

This is an update to the naming conventions that have been
issued. These rules replaces the old rules. A "name" refers to a
MACRO name, PIN name or SIGNAL name of your creation.

1.) Maximum name length is 20 characters.

2.) Legal characters are: A through Z (caps only)
                                 0 through 9
                                 _ (underscore)

3.) Names must begin with an alpha.

4.) Top level SIGNAL names (tls) may not match "ERCnnn...",
          where "nnn..." is trailing digits.

5.) A SIGNAL name (tls) may not be of the form "Zxnnn" where Z is
the character 'Z', x is any character and n is any digit.

6.) SIGNAL names (tls) on the output of inverters should be less
than 17 characters.

7.) MACRO names may not match DEVICE names, or "SAB" or "SABI".

8.) Pin names must contain at least one non-numeric character.

9.) Do not use an overbar on busses (neither signal nor pin
busses.)

10.) If you use overbars you may NOT use trailing underscores.

11.) Do not use "__" (double underscore) in any name.

12.) Do not use the word "LONGN" in any MACRO's text attribute.

13.) Net names (excluding external pin names) beginning with "VSS"
will be truncated to "VSS".

14.) Net names (excluding external pin names) beginning with "VDD"
will be truncated to "VDD".

15.) The net name "PWR" will be converted to "VDD".

16.) The net name "GND" will be converted to "VSS".

17.) When declaring "VSS" ("VDD") as external pins to the design,
make sure to use "VSSC" ("VDDC") and "VSSI" ("VDDI") as the pin
name when the pin is connected to a "core" or "i/o" buffer.
